Los Angeles (October 26, 2007) – The Price Is Right and Power of 10 host Drew Carey and Freedom Communications Vice President Richard A. Wallace have joined Reason Foundation's Board of Trustees.
"Our amazing board of trustees just got even better," said David Nott, Reason Foundation's president. "Drew Carey is remarkable. He's hilarious, creative and you can't turn on a TV without seeing one of his many hit shows, but he's still just a regular guy. Drew's ability to connect with people is unparalleled and there isn't a better ambassador for free minds and free markets."
"I never thought I was a libertarian until I picked up Reason magazine and realized I agree with everything they had printed," said Carey.
"Freedom Communications boasts the largest libertarian newspaper chain in the country thanks to Dick Wallace," Nott stated. "Dick's dedication to freedom and liberty has made a profound impact on the country and the wisdom he brings to Reason can only make our journalism and research that much better."
"In its nearly 40 years, Reason has had tremendous influence on our political and cultural landscape," said Wallace. "From the web to Reason magazine to its in-depth policy research, I think Reason is uniquely positioned to champion and advance the causes of liberty and limited government. I'm thrilled to be a part of this exciting time at Reason."
Carey is hosting a series of short documentaries for Reason.tv. The first video, examining traffic congestion and ways to reduce it, was released on October 15 and is online at http://reason.tv/video/show/6.html. In upcoming Reason.tv documentaries, Carey will examine the government's abuse of eminent domain, the immigration debate and medical marijuana laws.
Carey is currently the host of The Price Is Right and Power of 10, both airing on CBS. From 1995 to 2004 he starred in the hit show The Drew Carey Show. He was also the host and producer of the hit improv show Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
Wallace has served as vice president of corporate affairs at Freedom Communications since 1992. He was general manager of the Orange County Register from 1974-1992, publisher of the Anaheim Bulletin from 1968-1974 and has been a member of Freedom's board of directors since 1968.
