In a new video, Reason.tv Editor Nick Gillespie unveils his plan to get health insurance for many of the 45 million Americans who don’t have it. Call it the Gillespie plan: If you want health insurance, go out and get some.

A recent Johns Hopkins University study reports 20 percent of uninsured Americans can afford health insurance but choose not to buy it. The video introduces you to some of these folks; people who decide partying and buying clothes or protein powder are more important than health insurance.

“Many families are suffering, but there are a lot people, especially young people, voluntarily choosing to spend their money on things other than healthcare,” says Gillespie, “Twenty percent of Americans can afford healthcare if they want it. If you have the money to afford healthcare you don’t need Washington’s help, go out and get some.”
