Do As I Say, Not As I Do
A couple years ago, the Smithsonian Institute launched an exhibit to raise awareness about global warming.
This year, they are marketing an 'around-the-world trip on a private jet
When people who profess to be concerned about global warming start to change their behavior-by, you know, not offering private jet flights on around the world tours--then I might pay attention. Until then, shut up. Really.

Maybe the price of the tour ($49,950) covers carbon offsets? Or is Smithsonian just acknowledging the fact that world travel is good for developing economies?

Oh really, carbon offsets... the point is that the people telling us that global warming is "the biggest catastrophe ever to hit us" (just heard that on the radio) don't BEHAVE like it is. If I believed that it was that bad,I wouldn't even be thinking about carbon offsets, I would be begging everyone I know to plaster their houses and gardens in solar cells etc. It just seems real weird that people who believe the world is about to end also believe that planting trees and stuff can cancel everything out.Comment by: mark at May 5, 2008 05:56 AM
