When Flying Out of Reagan Just Won't Do
The Washington Post reports that getting federal funding for a DC metro expansion isn’t going as smoothly as had been planned.
According to the Post:
The Federal Transit Administration is evaluating the project's cost effectiveness to determine whether it qualifies for $900 million in federal money. The agency has expressed concern about the estimated price tag of the project's 11.6-mile first phase, which has grown from $1.52 billion in December 2004 to as much as $2.7 billion.
It’s really a shame that that the Federal Transit Authority is doubting whether to give $900 million to a project that would well-serve the... Dulles airport employees?
Fairfax Board of Supervisors Chairman Gerald E. Connolly has called this a "rehash of old issues" - we can only assume the Chairman is referring to the fact that Metro constantly ends up in the red.
