Virginia Civil Fines, cont'd

I posted here last week about the new Virginia civil fines that went into effect today (Sunday). Virginia residents who are convicted of misdemeanor or felony traffic violations face additional surcharges of upwards of thousands of dollars. For instance, failure to signal a turn counts as reckless driving in Virginia, and could cost Virginia residents convicted of the offense an additional $1,000 above the $100 standard fine.

Reason magazine's senior editor Radley Balko has more on David Albo, the self-described "chief architect" of the law that's got so many Virginians up in arms.
