The Myth of the Transit-Oriented City
Is there such a thing as a transit oriented city? Not if you look at travel patterns in New York City. Even NY's transportatin planners recognize that the city is a walking city, not a transit city. But this is true only for Manhattan. Outside of Manhattan, the automobile dominates travel for most kinds of trips in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island.
