Delicate rail, hearty bus

A fairly common, yet underappreciated occurrence in public transit: Mother Nature disrupts light rail service, and the heartier bus picks up the slack: Baltimore’s light rail service will resume Wednesday afternoon. Service between the Warren Road stop in Cockeysville and the northern end of the line in Hunt Valley was to resume after crews worked to repair overhead wires that fell in a storm Tuesday afternoon. Officials said when the wire collapsed, it fell on top of a light rail car and scorched a small hole through the roof. There were only ten passengers, and there were no injuries. Bus service was made available on the portions of the line where trains couldn’t run.
